From an installer’s ladder to owning the company.
Privacy On Demand invented and patented the outdoor privacy curtain in 2007. Our owner, Merrill Burrows, started out installing them — then built his own distributorship, and eventually bought the whole company. If you’re wondering whether this opportunity is real, that’s your answer.

One homeowner, one problem, one patent.
Privacy On Demand began in 2007, when founder Scott Lyons couldn’t solve a simple problem at his Orlando-area home: neighbors right across the fence could watch him whenever he was out by the pool.
He looked at every option and found nothing that worked — so he built his own. Scott designed a curtain system for aluminum screen enclosures that he could open and close as needed, giving him privacy exactly when he wanted it: privacy on demand. He sourced the highest-quality marine-industry materials for the track and curtains, installed it on his own pool cage, and friends and family were blown away. The requests started immediately.
Scott was awarded a patent for the track system in 2007, and the Privacy On Demand brand was born. Since then, thousands of Florida homeowners have enjoyed a whole new level of privacy in their outdoor spaces.
Merrill & Emily Burrows.
Merrill first came to Privacy On Demand as an installer. Watching how much customers loved the product, he and his wife Emily launched their own distributorship — Florida Lanai Curtains — in 2017.
In 2018 they purchased Privacy On Demand outright, becoming the owners of the manufacturing side under Burrows Privacy Solutions LLC. Today they run both companies side by side: manufacturing the patented curtain and shade systems, and helping new distributors get started — because they’ve done every part of this business themselves.
When they’re not building outdoor privacy, you’ll usually find Merrill and Emily outside — running races, hiking and staying active. Hard-working, hands-on people who built this company the same way. Tap a photo to enlarge.
Marine-grade materials, built for the Florida sun.
Sunbrella privacy curtains
Our curtains use Sunbrella marine canvas — famous for resisting fading, mold and mildew even in harsh climates — backed by a 10-year fade-free warranty. Panels are custom-made to any height, up to 30 feet wide.
SolaMesh shade sails
Our shade sails use SolaMesh fabric in 19 colors, custom-made for each enclosure, sewn with lifetime-warranty thread and carrying a 10-year degradation-free warranty — built to last a decade or more.
Privacy you can open and close on demand.
The heart of Privacy On Demand is the patented aluminum track-and-curtain system. Curtains are custom-made in panels of virtually any height and up to 30 feet wide, connected to each other with zippers and anchored at the bottom with side-release clips. When a homeowner wants full privacy, the panels close into a clean, continuous wall of fabric — and we can even seal the curtains to the house so there are no gaps. When they want their view back, they simply unclip the bottom, draw the panels open and tie them back. It is privacy on demand, exactly when it’s wanted, and shade from the low Florida sun when it’s needed.
Every installation is measured and designed for the specific space, which is why the product looks built-in rather than bolted-on. Our distributors work with each homeowner to choose fabrics, colors and configurations that fit how they actually use their lanai, pool cage or patio — and, because the systems are engineered for aluminum screen enclosures, they hold up to weather, salt air and years of daily use.

A product people love
“A privacy fence would have cost twice what these beautiful curtains cost.” “They provide ultimate privacy so we can enjoy our outdoor area to the fullest.” After all these years, we’ve yet to meet a customer who regretted it.
We make the product — and the businesses that install it.
Privacy On Demand, operated as Burrows Privacy Solutions LLC, is the manufacturer: we design and build the patented curtain and shade systems, source the marine-grade materials, and stand behind the product with real warranties. But we don’t stop at making things. Having done every part of this business ourselves — from Merrill’s early days on a ladder as an installer to running the manufacturing today — we know exactly what a new distributor needs to succeed, and we’ve built the company around providing it.
That’s why every distributor gets in-person training, product samples, marketing tools, and the POD business console we use to run our own operation. We’d rather grow by helping independent owners build thriving local businesses than by opening corporate branches, and our network of distributors across Florida is the result. When you partner with Privacy On Demand, you’re not licensing a logo — you’re getting a patented product from the people who invented and perfected it, and the hands-on support to sell and install it well. That’s a foundation you simply can’t get from a generic business opportunity or a franchise built around someone else’s product.
Built by people who’ve done the work.
We manufacture the product and train the people. If our owner could go from installer to owner, imagine what you could build with the head start we give you.
